1911 NM Rear Sight

Description

Our National Match style rear sight is designed to fit into the dovetail of GI pattern 1911 pistols. Its extra thick serrated blade is .315" tall (total height, from base to top of blade) for compatibility with new production Colts, and features a .140" wide U notch. User installable (with some hand fitting), no machining required. The newly revised design includes a more rounded profile and additional edge chamfers to improve comfort for handling and carry.

FITS: GI pattern dovetails such as Colt and Springfield Armory with GI pattern sights.
Compatible with: front sights of .175-.185" height.

Is direct replacement for Colt, Springfield Armory, and other 1911s with GI/Milspec rear dovetail. Compatible with factory front sight on Colt 1991A1, new production Series 70 reproduction, and Springfield Armory Milspec models, and does not affect point of impact.

**Be aware that older production Colts with the very low GI style "thumbnail" front sight will require a taller front sight to work with this rear. Machining of the slide is typically necessary and recommended to install a modern dovetail front sight. We neither recommend nor know of any options for traditional style staked on front sights. High profile staked on fronts were bad when we had them in the 80's - they fell off a lot due to the extra weight/inertia from the mass - and they are not any better of any option now that we have dovetailed fronts available.

Installed on a 70 series Colt Government 1911 - fit and function is great. Used in conjuction with .185 front sight.

Used this to replace the rear sight on a 5" 1991 A1 Colt slide. Takes a small amount of fitting but worth it when installed. Great sight pic and works well with OEM staked .185 front . Does not snag, enough of a shelf for one handed slide racking, windage adjustable and a set screw to keep it where you put it. If you are looking for an upgrade that is straight forward,effective and simple to install on a Colt spec slide dovetail this replacement sight is the one to choose.

I like this sight because it is simple and sturdy. It is relatively small compared to other sights that seem to stick out too far. This one matches the design and fits perfectly with the appearance of my Colt combat commander. And gives a good sight picture when combined with the .180 OEM type front sight.

Excellent machining, excellent finish, close initial fit, and expertly designed are all descriptive of this sight. In addition to these factors, this sight is also very reasonably priced. Overall, it is one of the best values when buying a GI rear sight. I absolutely love the attention to detail, as indicated by the nicely performed radius on the edges of the sight. I love it.

Had a gun smith remove my damaged original rear sight on my M199A1 & replaced with the 10-8 NM Rear sight. I actually prefer the new sight to the original one. Very impressed with 10-8's service!

Much Improved Sight Picture

Put this on my RIA CS, replacing the GI sight. Had to do a little filing to get it to fit, but looks great. Have a FO on the front,the sight picture for my aging eyes is now much better and aquisition is much faster. Very happy with the product

Installed on an Auto Ordnance 1911A1 with a Trijcon front sight. Fast to get on target and improved accuracy.

I installed this rear on a Para Expert. It works out perfectly with the FO front that came on that gun.

'Older eyes' but still carry daily

The sights are great for range use on a 5" Colt Availability of an occasional run of wider notch might suit folks whose vision needs all the help it can get.
