Description

Our classic 10-8 Performance rear sight design, featuring a Lo Mount dovetail, CNC machined from hardened 4140 bar stock and finished in black oxide. Rear face is serrated at 40lpi to reduce glare, with a .125" deep U notch. Features ledge profile and serrations on the front for optimized use as a racking surface. These will fit most 1911s with the popular Novak Lo Mount dovetail, as well as the fixed sight STI/Staccato 2011 pistols.

Blade Heights (see photo gallery for where to measure):

  • .325" - Most common height used by manufacturers and suggested height for custom builds
  • .350" - For the 3.9" barrel Staccato C, C2, as well as legacy models such as the DVC Carry. Same as factory height. Also fits many newer Springfield Armory 1911 models with .350" tall rear sights.
  • .375" - For any of the above models which may shoot low. Raises impact at 25 yards approximately 6-7" from .325", 4-5" from .340" and approximately 3" from the .350".

**Does NOT fit:

  • Adjustable sight STI/Staccato 2011s, DUO models, or DUO iron sight adapter plates.
  • Springfield AOS iron sight cover plate
  • Dan Wesson Optic cut iron sight cover plate

Please note that our sights are made to consistent dimensions, and we can't be 100% certain how any given manufacturer cuts their dovetails. Our sights usually fit with some hand filing of the sight base. Unmodified GI dovetail slides will need to be machined. Please note that 1911 Low Mount dovetails vary wildly in dimensions. Our sights are meant to provide an interference fit, and not be dependent on the set screw for retention. It is not uncommon for some dovetails to be too large for our sight.

The rear sights are available in heights to match your existing rear sight height, and will therefore be directly compatible with your existing front sight. You will want to measure your existing rear sight before ordering (see photo gallery for the critical dimension). If your gun already has a LoMount style rear sight on it, our rear sight will be directly compatible with your existing front sight in both height and width.

Please note that Springfield Armory fixed sight 1911s may have .325", .350", or .375" tall sights. It is not possible for us to predict what is on your gun, as each individual sample can vary without regard for model number etc. It is best for you to measure the sight on YOUR gun to be sure.

The left front of the sight has a small angle machined into it. This is for easier installation, and is not a machining error.

    1911 low pro tactile sight

Very easy to install. This thing looks GOOD!

    Slight filing but fit well

Ended up getting it mostly on with a punch after the sight pusher struggled. Filed a slight amount and then just banged the bad boy on.

    Great Product, Watch Your Fitment

BLUF: It's a great product, but be careful on the Novak-"style" dovetails. It's a great sight, the U-notch presents faster for my eyes and shooting style, and the serrations perform exactly as advertised. Also helpful is the mid-line alignment indicator. With a little measuring of my slide and some math, I was zero'd at 15y and punching holes exactly where I wanted without any further adjustment - which is always nice to avoid playing with a sight pusher or mallet on the firing line. The only problem I ran into was fitting it to a imported 1911. Do your research, and measure your dovetail before ordering to ensure the manufacturer hasn't played fast and loose with the angles and measurements. Otherwise, you'll spend a few hours draw filing, lapping, and test fitting. Because my manufacturer sliced a few tenths off the rear shelf measurement on the dovetail, the sight overhangs by about .04" which offends the slide line .... but it's a tool and from behind the gun or in a kydex holster you can't tell the difference. I'm happy. Thanks 10-8!

    Awesome sight

Great sight. This is what the Emissary should have shipped with. With the factory width front sight, it is still more combat than target, but allows for more precision than factory configuration.

    1911/2011 Low Mount Rear Sight

I've been fortunate to be the custodian of some fine equipment. i recently rescued a Les Baer Commanche that had not seen the light of day for 28 years. Yes those factory night sights were gone. This Low Mount rear sight .325x.156 was installed along with an Ed Brown HD Tritium Orange front. Wow! Great sight picture and POA/POI is what was expected. Excellent quality of material with unique design. When needed I will be picking up more.

    1911 lol mount rear sight

Excellent quality, and installed on my Dan Wesson Guardian with minimal fitment. Easily accepted cold blue on the fitted areas. Excellent sight picture on a extremely sturdy sight.

    1911 Rear Sight

Perfect fit on a Springfield Garrison, no fitting needed but solid tension and a vast upgrade to the Novak style rear and pairs well with a fiber optic front.

    Sights

This is the sixth 10-8 rear sight I’ve bought. Fairly easy to install. Durable and I love the U-notch vs a square notch. They just work and get the job done.
