Description

*While this part is a drop in fit in many pistols, gunsmith fitting may be required on some guns.  The .200" (nominal) diameter pin is typically bigger than your factory unit (they tend to run .195-.199") and may not fit into the frame hole. The larger diameter pin can create a tighter lockup with the barrel's lower lugs, sometimes such that the gun will not go into battery without gunsmith fitting.

**A popular question is "will this fit in my XXX 1911."  As above, every single 1911 will be a little different, and may or may not require gunsmith fitting.

***This part was the OEM slide stop for the Staccato 2011's from 2018-2020, and their current slide stop has a similarly shaped lever. As much as we'd like to sell you a slide stop, you may not gain much from fitting a 10-8 slide stop to a current Staccato. Further, the Staccato factory machines the barrel lugs to the slide stop in your gun, so that they are dimensionally matched for optimum lockup and accuracy. You cannot simply drop in a new slide stop into your Staccato, and doing so may likely result in a fit inferior to the factory's work. For users new to the 1911/2011, the slide stop is to be depressed with the support hand during the reload, and this lever does not extend to the rear to make your gun like a Glock.

Our second generation slide stop is an all original design that is totally reengineered to provide you a whole new level of functionality.

  • Unique pad shape that only protrudes approximately .050" more than a GI style, but with a ledge shape that provides a more positive shelf for manipulation
  • Interior of lobe angled for easy installation - no more scratches on your slide!
  • Engagement surfaces optimized for positive lockback
  • Geometry improves slingshot slide release during reloads
  • Design improves detent spring pressure to minimize chance of premature lockback
  • Optimum diameter .200" (nominal dimension) pin for improved lockup
  • Right end of pin has protruding convex domed tip, same as GI slide stops
  • Pin is nominal .870" as measured from interior of slide stop plate to the tip of the convex pin

Fits all 1911 pattern pistols, including Govt/Commander/Officer sizes and 2011/Caspian/Para double column frames. Also fits Springfield EMP, which will accept the 9/.38/.40 versions.

.45 ACP version has .200" lobe protrusion.

9mm/.38/.40 version has .220" lobe protrusion.  **All calibers other than .45 will use 9/.38 slide stop**

Machined from bar stock and heat treated.

Carbon steel version has matte black phosphate finish.

Stainless Steel version has matte bead blast finish.

    Perfect

Perfect, snug drop-in on my Springfield V10. No more walking, much easier to install and handle.

Best slide stop I've used to date.

Perfect profile for me. I am left handed and easy to engage slide stop and release slide fast. Put one on my Cheely custom STI competition gun as well as my carry 1911. Love it.

    Update: works perfectly

I wrote a review and had a probmlem with occasional FLB. I took a little material off the "tombstone" area of the slide stop to allow it to more deeply engage the slide. It is now 100%! I also rounded the front edge of the contact pad slightly with a diamond hone and it fits my preference better. Thanks for a quality part

Well made but a few quirks

I installed this piece in my gun and liked that the cross pin is a little larger than my stock piece. It is also a little easier to push past the plunger on reassembly. The bad parts are that the leading edge of pad your finger contacts to drop the slide is a little abrupt. This can be easily fixed but I would like to see a little more rounded off corner there. The only problem I've encountered is a failure to lock back occasionally. It might be a clearance issue. If I can get that sorted it'll be perfect.

    Exactly as Described

Excellent fit & finish. The 0.200" pin dia was spot on, as it was one of the reasons I purchased the 10-8 product, my existing MIM slide stop was undersized. Finish is ultimately smoother than the bead blast on the Ruger 1911CMD, but I can re-blast if I care too - however it looks fine as-is.

    Super Solid

I purchased this for a custom 1911. I threw away the custom parts and add this slide stop. All I can say is AWESOME.

    Must have 1911 Upgrade

I've known about 10-8 since I started looking for my first 1911 and I'm glad I found it. The slide release by 10-8 snaps in with ease compared to the factory Kimber one. It makes dis-assembly and re-assembly an ease and you don't have to worry about marring up the frame. This is totally awesome. For my next 1911, I'll be getting another one.

Own three of these flawless parts, so far, completely AWESOME!

So now I need to get two more for my TRP Operator and my Long Beach Operator. A friend gave me my first blued 10-8 Gen2 blued slide stop which went to Springfield and got a Black-T finish as well as a dehorn to match a custom NM Loaded they were addressing/refinishing for me and if they fitted it, they did not charge me, it works perfectly and dropped right in. The second one I got just recently was installed by me on a TRP AKote Tactical and required just a little emery board filing on the inside of stop where the thickness of the slide and AKote was making cycling a tad too tight for proper function....a soda pop and a 30 minute TV show later and viola! It fit and functions perfectly and now after 300+ rounds it is just getting better. This last one I got direct from 10-8 is a stainless model Gen2 slide stop and not only did the bead blast finish match my SS TRP Tactical to a "T", it, too, dropped right in and functions perfectly! I can't wait to place my next order on two more of these in blue and get them, as well as some other parts, off to Springfield for some finishing to match the two select S.A. pistols mentioned at the top. Great job all the way around guys n gals at 10-8 Performance! From fast shipping/tracking to actual quality of parts & their finishes, 100% satisfaction form this shooter! Thank you!

May drop in, may need fitting, always works

I have used two of these superior slide stops. I like how they remove the need for pushing in the detent which, until using the 10-8 armorer's too, had a good chance of putting a beautiful scratch on the frame! I used one carbon steel variety on a TRP, dropped right in. The other, stainless, prevented unlocking up on my MC Operator, you really had to force it open. Upon Hilton's wisdom, you can take two routes: shoe shine polish the pin for a closer fit that allows correct unlocking OR, use some honing oil and JB Compound and hand lap that sucker in there. One is easier than the other and one gives a perfectly professional fit but both will work. High quality component, removes the idiot factor from installation and provides a very positive manipulation for slide lock reloads. Will not effect fit of a custom raven holster.

    Fixed the problem.

My Sig 1911 RCS would lock open on the last round and leave round sitting loose on top of the magazine. Fixed! And it did just drop right in and looks much better than the original MIM part. Well worth it! Picked one up for my Colt Gold Cup Trophy too!
