Rear sight for the S&W M&P Shield, fits all Shield models including 9/.40 and .45. These sights are precision CNC machined from prehardened 4140 bar stock, and are designed to withstand the rigors of hard duty use. The sight features a U notch for fast alignment with tritium dot, bead, or fiber optic front sights. The rear face is serrated at 40 lpi to reduce glare in varied lighting conditions. The sight blade is thick enough to allow setting tritium vials as dots or bars if one so chooses, and is contoured and dehorned for comfortable handling and carry. Finished in black salt bath nitrocarburizing, equivalent to the factory finish on the slide, for superior hardness and corrosion resistance.
The rear sight is compatible in height with the factory front sight (.160" tall x .140" wide), and can also be used in conjunction with our M&P front sights. Rear sight height is identical to the factory sight (.330" total height, .250" net blade height), and will not change point of impact.
ReviewsThe stock rear sight on M&P Shield is sharp as a razor and has been known to poke holes in shirts, jackets, and pockets. The dehorned 10-8 replacement sight is a welcome solution to the problem. It's especially nice that it is compatible with the stock front sight and the U notch provides a great sight picture. The fit and finish of this sight matches the existing finish and contours of the Shield perfectly. Highly recommended!kiki
bettwr than factory byfar!Never liked the rear sights on any of the Smith & Wesson guns prefer complete blacked out rear end to a positive white front or HD front sight! 10-8 makes a very good serrated rear sight if you like the same style of sites that I do!!!KHor
Great for Glocks not so for S&W Shield 45I have 10-8 rears and fiber fronts on 4 Glocks. They install easily and are hands down my favorite sights to date. I've struggled to install these sights on on my Shield 45. So much so, I've destroyed two 10-8 rears and put an awesome punch gouge in my slide serrations (Personalized) after frustration set in and used a steel punch. Figured I better get the right tools after destroying 3 brass punches, so now have a Dawson sight file and Jennings Machine and Tool MK V HD sight pusher. After literally 4 hours of filing over two days, the best this sight fits is half way in with tremendous hammering force almost tipping over my JawHorse. It's a real bummer because 10-8 has the best U-Notch rear IMHO. Guess I'll have to throw the Defoor sights back on.Higgy
Exactly what I was looking forI have a Big Dot XS Tritium front sight on my Shield and this rear sight complements the front sight perfectly. Also it's made w good quality. I do feel the price was a little high but considering I had no issues installing it I could overlook the cost. I got the .156 because of the size of my front sight.Scott
Great choice for M&P!Have this on my full size M&P9, just purchased same one for my Shield. Both in .156. I have a 10-8 brass bead on both as well - love this setup. Tempted to try the fiber optic too, but really enjoy the simplicity and sight picture of a brass bead with a plain black rear.Tony Villegas
great sight! What can I say, I just love this thing. Takes the distraction from the rear sight, and makes you focus on your front sight. Also great for one handed combat. Thanks again!
Tight fit and never coming off!I got these in the mail the other day and installed them. Did have to file a little bit off the sight to get it started. I probably could have filed a little more but worried the cut in the slide might not be true. So instead of going too much I went for less. Using a slide pusher (which I highly recommend for anyone who is a DIYer) and some gun oil to help slide them along, I got them centered and set. Tightened the set screw and viola! They do make a difference in establishing a quick sight picture. Instead of lining up three dots, I am lining up one and getting on target that much faster. Will be putting these on the rest of my handguns.Jimmy
Just like Irish Whiskey, 10-8 products are Top Shelf. The sights are dead nuts on. What more can one ask for.pete
great sight picture with ameriglo classicInstalled easily and lined up perfectly with rear of the slide. Should have been an OEM part!Alan W
Simply PefectJust put this on new Shield this morning. Fit and finish are perfect. I was lucky enough to not have to file the sight for installation. The sight picture is much faster than the factory sights. There is no struggling to line up dots and my eye automatically focuses on the front sight. I paired the .156 notch with a .140 wide Tritium front sight with a Lime green ring around it and cant believe how well this combination works. The paint ring fits perfectly in the "U". Thanks for building great products.
