To determine the rear sight height that you need, measure the rear blade as shown. We do not know what height you have on YOUR gun, some manufacturers have variance between individual guns of the same model. 1911 Low Mount Rear Sight 1911 Low Mount Rear Sight 1911 Low Mount Rear Sight

1911 Low Mount Rear Sight

$48.75

The 10-8 Performance rear sight is precision CNC machined from heat treated 4140 bar stock to better resist the nicking and denting that is typical with the wear and tear of daily carry. All 10-8 sights feature a U notch for rapid, intuitive alignment with dot such as on our tritium insert and fiber optic front sights. The rear face is serrated at 40 lpi to reduce glare in varied lighting conditions.  The sight blade is thick enough to allow setting in tritium vials as dots or bars if one so chooses, but we recommend leaving them without inserts in order to draw the eye toward the front sight.  The sight body is contoured and dehorned for comfortable handling and carry.  All rear sights feature a plain black blade finished in matte black oxide.

  • FITS: Novak LoMount ® dovetail
  • Notch widths:
    • .125" - preferred for greatest accuracy
    • .140" - most popular, good all purpose width
    • .156" - fastest notch for .125" wide front blades or XS Dot front sights
      • Choose the .156" notch, .325" height to use with the XS Standard Dot for 1911, which is .185" tall.

Most factory sight setups feature a rear notch that is the same width as the front blade - ie. typically a .125" wide rear notch with .125" wide front sight.  This type of setup provides a relatively tight visual window that optimizes precision for maximum accuracy.  For most shooters with good vision, this combination works fine.  An increasingly popular combination is the .140" rear notch with a .125" width front blade.  For most shooters, this combination offers improved speed on close range targets without degrading perceived accuracy out to 25 yards.  The .156" extra wide notch is compatible with the XS Standard Dot (.110” width) or XS Big Dot (.161” width)  front sights, and also makes for a very quick combination in conjunction with our .125" wide front sights.  Our recommended "signature" set is the .140" wide rear notch with a .100" wide fiber optic front, or the .156" rear with the .125" brass bead front.

Our 02 series sights will fit into the popular Novak LoMount ® dovetail, which is found on fixed sight 1911s offered by countless manufacturers.  Please note that our sights are made to consistent dimensions, and we can't be 100% certain how any given manufacturer cuts their dovetails. Our sights usually fit with some hand filing of the sight base. Unmodified GI dovetail slides will need to be machined.

**The 02 series sights DO NOT fit: Kimber, ParaOrdnance, Taurus, Magnum Research, or S&W 1911s.  The Kimber and Magnum Research 1911s take  Kimber Front and Rear Sights, and are not compatible. We no longer offer front/rear sights for the Kimber.

The rear sights are available in heights to match your existing rear sight height, and will therefore be directly compatible with your existing front sight.  You will want to measure your existing rear sight before ordering.  If your gun already has a LoMount style rear sight on it, our rear sight will be directly compatible with your existing front sight in both height and width.

Please note that Springfield Armory fixed sight 1911s (Loaded, TRP, Professional, EMP) use both .325" and .375" tall sights.  It is not possible for us to predict what is on your gun, as each individual sample can vary without regard for model number etc.  It is best for you to measure the sight on YOUR gun to be sure.

Choose from .325" ("standard") blade height or .375" ("extra tall") blade height (most common on Officer/Defender length 1911s or various Springfield fixed sight 1911s). The .375" is now only available in .140" notch.

The left front of the sight has a small angle machined into it. This is for easier installation, and is not a machining error.

Please note that 1911 Low Mount dovetails vary wildly in dimensions. Our sights are meant to provide an interference fit, and not be dependent on the set screw for retention. It is not uncommon for some dovetails to be too large for our sight.

Great Sights! Very Well Machined for Les Baer TRS

These sights fit perfect to my Les Baer Thunder Ranch 1911. I did zero fitting on them. They pressed well into the slide and are holding up nicely. I really like the U-notch with the serrated rear face. The writeup regarding selecting the proper widths was the reason I purchased these sights. I'm using a 0.125" wide front and a 0.140" wide rear. I would probably get a wider rear for a faster sight picture, but the 0.140" is a really really good 'do it all' rear sight with a 0.125" front sight. I highly recommend this sight.

Terrific Rear Sight .156 for old eyes

This rear sight was a direct replacement for my night sight on my Dan Wesson, Vigil. It looks like it grew there.

My old eyes love the 10-8 rear sight

The 10-8 rear sight just flat works better that anything else for my eyes. As I approach middle age kicking and screaming, I find it harder and harder to maintain focus on the front sight. The 10-8 combo of U-notch, plain black and serrated makes it much easier to keep the focus up front where it needs to be. I don't know how it works, just that it works. I have 10-8 on everything I can. Every one has arrived in great condition and oversized enough that they need to be fitted. I much prefer this to having to rely on lock-tight and a set screw to keep an undersized sight in place. Like everything else 10-8. The rear sight just works and looks good doing it.

    Exactly as advertised

Perfect for my Sig TacOps. If you are looking for a .156 U- notch this is the one. Great quality, easy install with minimal fitting. Great quality product. I will be purchasing more.

Perfect fit for my Sig 1911

Got a .040 notch. Absolutely love it. Super east to fit. No filing or sanding at all, just eased it in and centered. VERY nice 1911 sight!!

    Quality sight with good results

I have a Springfield Loaded 45 with 5 inch barrel. It was grouping several inches below my 6 o'clock hold. It has the .325" rear sight. I purchased the .375" rear sight to raise my POI. This sight raised my POI an inch or two above 6 o'clock, which translates into placing the groupings where I want them to be. This is a quality sight. It is my first sight with a U notch. The front sight settles quickly to the center of the notch with plenty of daylight on each side of the sight. The .140 notch perfectly compliments the stock front sight. Fast shipping too. A satisfied first-time customer.

    Fiber Optic - terrific sight

After installing the fiber optic front and all black rear sights on my 1911 and Glock, I wish I made the transition years ago. This combination is, by far, the fastest I've used. Easy to acquire from the holster, tracks well during recoil, and the narrow front post is a bonus on small targets at distance. Well done, 10-8.

    Low Mount Rear Site

Perfect fit and easy install. Changed bullet impact from "6 o'clock hold" to POA on the Springfield EMP4 9mm.

    Worker not WOWer

The sight is rock solid and tough. Cuts are clean. There is nothing that makes this sight pop out at you, but that's exactly what I want. It's plane jane in my sight alignment, forcing my eye through the u-notch to my front-sight. The .125 cut helps me run my pistol more effectively.

    Excellent rear sight

A rear sight should not grab your attention. This sight provides a nice portal through which the front sight can be sharply focused. Looks tough and you can rack your slide with it like all those 5.11 wearing YouTube experts say you should. If this doesn't fit the Novak dovetail on your 1911, it's your 1911 that sucks.
