Slide Stop, Gen 2

$55.95

*While this part is a drop in fit in many pistols, gunsmith fitting may be required on some guns.  The .200" (nominal) diameter pin is typically bigger than your factory unit (they tend to run .195-.199") and may not fit into the frame hole. The larger diameter pin can create a tighter lockup with the barrel's lower lugs, sometimes such that the gun will not go into battery without gunsmith fitting.

**A popular question is "will this fit in my XXX 1911."  As above, every single 1911 will be a little different, and may or may not require gunsmith fitting.

***This part was the OEM slide stop for the Staccato 2011's from 2018-2020, and their current slide stop has a similarly shaped lever. As much as we'd like to sell you a slide stop, you may not gain much from fitting a 10-8 slide stop to a current Staccato. Further, the Staccato factory machines the barrel lugs to the slide stop in your gun, so that they are dimensionally matched for optimum lockup and accuracy. You cannot simply drop in a new slide stop into your Staccato, and doing so may likely result in a fit inferior to the factory's work. For users new to the 1911/2011, the slide stop is to be depressed with the support hand during the reload, and this lever does not extend to the rear to make your gun like a Glock.

Our second generation slide stop is an all original design that is totally reengineered to provide you a whole new level of functionality.

  • Unique pad shape that only protrudes approximately .050" more than a GI style, but with a ledge shape that provides a more positive shelf for manipulation
  • Interior of lobe angled for easy installation - no more scratches on your slide!
  • Engagement surfaces optimized for positive lockback
  • Geometry improves slingshot slide release during reloads
  • Design improves detent spring pressure to minimize chance of premature lockback
  • Optimum diameter .200" (nominal dimension) pin for improved lockup
  • Right end of pin has protruding convex domed tip, same as GI slide stops

Fits all 1911 pattern pistols, including Govt/Commander/Officer sizes and 2011/Caspian/Para double column frames. Also fits Springfield EMP, which will accept the 9/.38/.40 versions.

.45 ACP version has .200" lobe protrusion.

9mm/.38/.40 version has .220" lobe protrusion.  **All calibers other than .45 will use 9/.38 slide stop**

Machined from bar stock and heat treated.

Carbon steel version has black oxide finish.

Stainless Steel version has matte bead blast finish.

    Gen 2 Slide Stop

I’m pretty picky when it comes to buying my parts because I want something I’m only buying once. I bought an EGW HD slide stop for my newest 2011 build. I wasn’t crazy about the fact that it didn’t come all the way to the other side of the frame or the fact that the thumb tab was very short. The ridges on it were great though. I called EGW and they recommended the 10-8 slide stop. I ordered it and it showed up in 3 days! I took it out and dropped it right into my pistol. Absolutely perfect! The pin sticks out the other side of the frame just enough to be able to push it out when disassembling the firearm. The thumb tab is considerably bigger without being obtrusive when holding the pistol and makes dropping the slide infinitely easier. Ridges are just as sharp as the EGW. This will be the slide stop I buy for every 1911/2011 I build.

    gen 2 slide stop

Slide stops are not a necessary upgrade and there are 5 other manufactures making the same thing and I've never experienced a malfunction related to a slide stop. That being said, these Gen2s are pretty sweet. It has this gently increasing stairs that visually hide the fact that it is a paddle and the bottom is flat which make administratively locking the slide back easier. It is generally more attractive than other options on the market.

    10-8 slide stop

Swapped the .196” slide stop on a Springfield mil-spec with the 10-8 .200” slide stop. Relieved the barrel link slide stop pin hole as demonstrated in his 1911 Duty Tune DVD. That alone smoothed out the slide cycle / lock up like magic! The flat, wide paddle is very positive. No need for the plunger pin relief cut on the slide stop, Hilton’s designed the angle into the part. Lock back has been 100%. Highly recommend.

    Slide stop

This product fit perfectly in my hand built commander 1911. It was one of the last personally picked parts to complete the build. It has a slightly wider shelf to disengage and release the slide to load a round in the chamber. The texture and shape is perfect for me. I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

    10-8 1911 slide stop

The slide stop is another high quality part from 10-8 Performance. The angle and corner of the front part makes contact with my support side thumb when I establish a grip. Doesn't work for me but it should with someone that doesn't use my type of shooting grip.

    10-8 Gen 2 Slide Stop

Just like ALL 10-8 products, the Gen 2 Slide Stop is executed perfectly in design and performance. I have used 10-8 products since they started up as a company and they never disappoint. I was running into issues with the factory Colt slide stop in my 9mm 1911 Government Model in which I was getting intermittment fail to lock the slide back on Colt magazines. I watched Hilton's 1911 video and heard his explanation on how the 10-8 Slide Stopwas designed and why it was better than a factory stop. So instead of hacking up the factory stop and most likely making the situation worse, I ordered the 10-8 stop. Fixed the issue immediately with no mods made by me! Hilton's experience really shows through the design input of his products. I have been and will be a lifelong customer of 10-8 Performance!

    1911 45ACP - Slide Stop, Gen 2

Fits perfectly on my Springfield 1911 .45ACP. High quality part and much easier to press down than the stock slide release. Must have upgrade!
