Product Description

Rear sight for S&W M&P VTAC model.  This extra tall rear sight (.055" taller than standard M&P, .385" total height, .295" net blade height) directly replaces the VTAC rear sight with our plain black rear sight.  Extra deep .140" U notch is compatible with the two dot VTAC front sight (.225" tall).

Not intended as suppressor height sight or backup sight for mini red dot optics, nor is this recommended for front sights other than the 2 dot VTAC.

Finished in black salt bath nitrocarburizing for superior corrosion resistance and hardness.

Due to the very limited number of VTAC M&Ps on the market, this rear sight will be a limited run item only, so please be patient with restocking.

  1. Very High Quality - and Accurate! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Feb 2016

I bought this sight as a replacement for the rear sight on my M&P40 with Trijicon HD night sights. I normally love the HD's but on the M&P they are slanted towards the rear and are really sharp which cut into my side as I carry IWB at 3:00.

The HD's and this sight are exactly the same height with the notch in these being slightly deeper and more narrow than the HD. I really like it. The forward slant got rid of the ache in my side and the blacked out surface really helps me focus on the bright green of the Trijicon's front sight.

As a bonus, the narrower slot on this rear sight helped tighten up my groups significantly.

Simply align the top of the front sight with the top of the rear.

  2. VTAC rear sight & S&W M&P's 5 Star Review

When I purchased a S&W M&P FS 9mm I found it to shoot 3"-4" low. Much like the other poster, I was told by S&W that it was in spec. Since no one makes a shorter front site (or I have been unable to locate one) I was forced to locate a taller front site. I replaced the stock rear sight with the 10-8 VTAC rear sight & do to it's height, it brought my groups up to POA/POI exactly. I also have a M&P 9c & a M&P 5" PRO that shot 3"-4" low as well for me. I immediately replaced the stock rear sights with a VTAC rear & had the same result. I highly recommend the VTAC rear sight not only for it's added height but it's high quality of construction as well.

  3. Typical 10-8 quality 5 Star Review

I found the VTAC sights a bit busy so when I found this VTAC rear sight replacement I jumped on it. It allowed me to set up my VTAC much like my other pistols with plain black on the rear and dots on the front. Thanks 10-8 for a first quality product. And thanks for the installation video!

I used the VTAC sight with excellent results on a M&P 9mm shield. My shield shot 3.5in low from the factory and S&W told me that was in spec. After they returned it without rematching the barrel and slide I decided to raise the POI myself. I install a Dawson .140
front sight with factory rear and POI raised to just an inch low. That being the lowest frt.
sight out there I looked for a higher rear sight and VTAC fit the bill.I machined the sides down to just under the shields width and with the dovetails on M&P's being standard 60~
all I had to do was emery down bottom of sight dovetail .006 for a perfect tap in fit. I spoted two dots on sight with a .092 end mill and filled with glo/paint.Gun now shoots with a three dot line-up dead on out to 15yd's, thanks for making the VTAC its made me very happy with my shield now!
