  • The long front toe of the factory base pad kicks the magazine tube away from your hand, making it more difficult to get the correct index of the magazine tube in your hand.
  • The long front toe of the factory base pad is also a snag hazard during speed reloads. It is common to draw the front magazine and snag the rear one, leaving one in your gun and one on the ground.
  • The rebated front of the 10-8 base pad allows you get achieve the correct index of the magazine in your hand.
  • The scoop at the front allows you reach in and access the magazine for malfunction clearances.
  • The front scoop makes for easy stripping of stuck magazines.
  • The side scoops allow for improved purchase while stripping stuck magazines or performing tactical reloads.

Please note that there are two different generation magazine base plates for the 9/40/357 - first generation with center located round button base pad retainer plates, and post 2011 square button retainer plates.  We now have a base pad for each type of magazine, so be sure that you order the correct pad.  You can also order the original style round button retainer plate to go with our round hole base pad.

The M&P factory base pad was one of the areas where we felt some improvements could be made.  Due to their plastic construction, some users have experienced pad cracking and breakage.  Our magazine base pads are CNC machined from tough 6061 aluminum for maximum durability.  The bottom of the pad features 8 dimples for marking your magazines. Available to fit full sized frame M&P models (fits all generations of full sized mags). Black anodized finish. 

Weight is .5 ounces (factory is .2 ounces). Pads are legal in all divisions of IDPA and USPSA.

These pads are the same thickness as the factory pads, and are therefore not compatible with aftermarket competition magazine wells.

    Got my new mag base plates in today. I had all 5 installed in minutes! One spring got away! Lol High quality product! I won't ever have to worry about my magazines failing on duty due to a cracked or broken base plate! Carry On 10-8 and keep up the great work! Waiting for the next innovation for my S&W M&P!

    I purchased these for my S&W M&P and they are a nice additional to my pistol. The fit and finish on the base plates is excellent. Installing the base pads was a breeze. They went right on with no issues. The base pads are contoured for your fingers to grab the bottom of the magazine to help remove stuck mags. The base pads add a little extra weight to the mags, which is nice because when you hit the magazine release the empty mag slides right out. Thanks 10-8 for another great product.
