The 10-8 Performance 1911 extended magazine catch features additional length of approximately .045" over a stock catch, and a unique 30lpi serrated curved button surface for positive activation. This magazine catch also features a number of other features that make it more than just cosmetically unique.

-Machined from bar stock. Not cast or MIM.

-Interior of the catch is relieved to prevent trapping of the magazine when the button is pressed. 

-Flat right side of the catch is slightly overlength to permit filing to a flush fit with the flat surface of your frame.  

-Catch ledge is raised .010" for better magazine positioning relative to feed ramp.

-Spring tunnel dimensions are improved over Gen 1 catches, to provide a softer feel when pressed.


Tumbled, then bead blasted for a matte finish with soft dehorned edges.

Carbon steel version has black oxide finish.

Stainless steel version has matte blasted finish.

Does not include spring or catch lock.

Not all 1911 frames are made to the same dimensions. This part may require some fitting to ensure proper fit and function in your frame.

    Nice but

    Good Feeling part but a little bit rough, angle hurts your thumb a bit if you have larger hands

    Best mag release in the market

    2nd one I purchase. The angle the button has is ideal and very comfortable. Very little fitting required on a Colt. Solid construction.

    Mag catch ergos

    These have a very interesting design. When the thumb moves to depress a stiff mag release, it naturally rotates to put the thumb in line with the button. This increased the pressure on the tip of the thumb and leads to an sensation of having to use too much force. By sloping the button it increases contact with the meaty part of the thumb and safes the delicate tip.

    10.8 quality is fantastic. I added most of his parts to my Springfield Ro Operator. Cant say enough good stuff on Hiltons products.

    10-8 magazine catch

    Nicely machined part that installed without any fitting necessary. The serrated and angles surface of the magazine catch provides positive feedback for your thumb placement and greater surface contact with the thumb pad than traditional extended magazine releases.

    Mag release

    Order this product for an older DW Valor, easy install, no fitting required for this particular application. Function and quality is outstanding. Makes for a noticeable faster and cleaner mag change compared to the OE mag release. Thanks!

    Mag Catch

    Knowing the quality of 10 8 products for my Colt Commander. I will say for me this was completely drop in with no fitting what so ever. It completely fixed my nosediving problem with how my oem mag catch was out of spec from factory. I highly recommend purchasing

    Glad I purchased this

    Required a bit of fitting and polishing but it was well worth it. It looks like it came with my Colt from the factory Functions very well and I’m a fan of the angle as your thumb hits wedge for easy function. Makes a lot of sense and reloads are easy with this system.

    Great product, not my cup of tea

    The product is very well built... I'm not a fan of the design. I thought, hoped, the angle of the button would be slanted the other direction.

    dropped in and needed a few tweaks

    I bought this extended catch for my Les Baer Super tac and the catch dropped in without any fitting needed! The only fitting needed was the shelf was about .0300" too high so my magazines would not lock in place. The only problem I can see that is possible, is that now after carefully filing down the shelf that much is that the shelf has gotten a tad smaller and the magazines fall out with about half as much inward travel as my stock baer mag catch. The magazines do not fall out when I push/pull them while in lock position by hand, but I have not range tested them yet and will update when I do. Overall, this is a great product and I love the angled face, hopefully the shelf doesn't cause problems. I would recommend this product.
