Please wait...The 10-8 Performance rear sight is precision CNC machined from heat treated 4140 bar stock to better resist the nicking and denting that is typical with the wear and tear of daily carry. All 10-8 sights feature a U notch for rapid, intuitive alignment with dot such as on our tritium insert, brass bead, and fiber optic front sights. The rear face is serrated at 40 lpi to reduce glare in varied lighting conditions. The sight blade is thick enough to allow setting in tritium vials as dots or bars if one so chooses, but we recommend leaving them without inserts in order to draw the eye toward the front sight. The sight body is contoured and dehorned for comfortable handling and carry. All rear sights feature a plain black blade finished in matte black oxide.
Most factory sight setups feature a rear notch that is the same width as the front blade - ie. typically a .125" wide rear notch with .125" wide front sight. This type of setup provides a relatively tight visual window that optimizes precision for maximum accuracy. For most shooters with good vision, this combination works fine. An increasingly popular combination is the .140" rear notch with a .125" width front blade. For most shooters, this combination offers improved speed on close range targets without degrading perceived accuracy out to 25 yards. The .156" extra wide notch is compatible with the XS Standard Dot (.110” width) or XS Big Dot (.161” width) front sights, and also makes for a very quick combination in conjunction with our .125" wide front sights. Hilton's "signature" set is the .140" wide rear notch with a .100" wide fiber optic front, or the .156" rear with the .125" brass bead front.
Our 02 series sights will fit into the popular Novak LoMount ® dovetail, which is found on fixed sight 1911s offered by Wilson Combat, Rock River, Dan Wesson, Ed Brown, Springfield Armory, Colt (XSE/Gunsite), Nighthawk, Les Baer, DoubleStar, STI, Sig (GSR and 1911s) and others. They will fit your slide with only hand fitting of the sight if the dovetail is already cut, otherwise your slide will need to be machined. **The 02 series sights DO NOT fit: Kimber, ParaOrdnance, Taurus, or S&W 1911s.
The rear sights are available in heights to match your existing rear sight height, and will therefore be directly compatible with your existing front sight. You will want to measure your existing rear sight before ordering. If your gun already has a LoMount style rear sight on it, our rear sight will be directly compatible with your existing front sight in both height and width.
Please note that Springfield Armory fixed sight 1911s (Loaded, TRP, Professional, EMP) use both .325" and .375" tall sights. It is not possible for us to predict what is on your gun, as each individual sample can vary without regard for model number etc. It is best for you to measure the sight on YOUR gun to be sure.
Choose from .325" ("standard") blade height or .375" ("extra tall") blade height (most common on Officer/Defender length 1911s or various Springfield fixed sight 1911s).

Last year I put XS Express sights on my Commander sized 1911. I found the Novak front sight disappeared due to my 62 year old eyes. It was a big improvment. But I was never quite satisfied with the shallow "V" rear sight.
I just installed the 10-8 performance Lo-Mount sight. Holy Cow! Even I can see that big dot up front without glasses and it FILLS - perfectly - the 10-8 rear sight (.156 diameter). I can't imagine a better combination. The big dot leaps at you for fast/close work. And nestle the dot right into the 10-8 and you're back to fine work. Wish you'd offer this as a combination. Can't be beat! Thanks.

Switched from a Novak rear to the u-notch and sped up sight and target acquisition considerably. It's actually pretty surprising how much this rear sight improved my shooting in both speed and accuracy. I wouldn't run another 1911 without it. It's not cheap, but it's definitely worth the price.

I just installed the extra tall (.375") on my Springfield Loaded and left the stock (Novak) sight in place. Man, what a difference! My eyes are getting old and the rear sight was just too busy. With the stock sights, my POI was low. The extra tall sight brought my POI up to near perfect and are lighting fast. This is one of the best mods I've done to my 1911.
