  • The complete kit: mag well, mag well insert, set screw, wrench.
  • Remove your factory frame insert and replace it with the 10-8 unit. The stainless steel insert pin (the only shiny silver pin on the frame insert) is bonded in place and will not fall out.

  • DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the set screw! The frame and the mag well, both being glass reinforced nylon, are somewhat flexible. On some frames it is possible to tighten the screw enough that it flexes the frame and keeps the mag from dropping out. Simply back the screw out a half turn at a time until the mag drops free again.

Product Description

Updated 07/16/2019: The final quantities of these mag wells has now been SOLD OUT, and we will not be making any more.

This magazine well is easily installed by the end user with only a hex wrench, and offers significantly improved speed over the stock frame opening.  The funnel is CNC machined from tough glass reinforced nylon – the same material used in our Armorer Block.  This material is comparable in strength to the frame material, and adds negligible weight or bulk.  The use of nylon instead of aluminum gives the magazine well an extremely slick feel during reloading, and was preferred by all beta testers over the aluminum prototypes.  The funnel is firmly anchored to the frame through the use of an included machined aluminum frame locking piece, which replaces the factory plastic locking piece, and does not shift or work loose in rough handling.  This magazine well represents our uncompromising approach to design, and promises to be the highest quality M&P magazine well available on the market.  It is suitable for duty use, competition, and CCW applications.

FITS FULL SIZED M&P 9/40 ONLY. Not intended for the compact (9c, etc) or .45 models. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH M&P 2.0 MODELS.

The magazine well is designed to be compatible with our new XTC base pad.  Due to the way that the magazines seat in the bottom of the M&P and the way our funnel had to attach, it limited what base pads are compatible with it. We only warranty 100% fit with our XTC base pads, as we cannot control the dimensions of competitor's base pads.

Does NOT fit:

  • Original 10-8 aluminum M&P base pads
  • S&W factory base pads, compact base pads, 10 round magazine bases
  • Arredondo molded extensions
  • Apex/10-8 molded base pads

Fits in IDPA box (with XTC base pads), legal for ESP.  Not USPSA Production Legal.

**Installation is easy, but look at the photo gallery here for some tips.  DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the set screw!  The frame and the mag well, both being glass reinforced nylon, are flexible, and the slightest pressure on the frame will cause magazines to bind.  On some frames it is possible to tighten the screw enough that it flexes the frame and keeps the mag from dropping out.  Simply back the screw out a half turn at a time until the mag drops free again. We have to walk a fine line with having the funnel attach tightly to the frame yet exert zero pressure on it.

**Depending on frame dimensions, it is possible for the interior of the magazine well to fit such that it can interfere with the magazines.

Common questions answered:

  • Will you be making this for the .45 M&P?
    • Unfortunately, demand for .45 M&P accessories is very low as compared to the 9mm, so we have no immediate plans to make a .45 mag well and base pad setup
  • Will you be making these in other materials like aluminum, steel, or brass?
    • We have prototyped these in aluminum, but all of our beta testers preferred the nylon version to the aluminum, and we think you will too.
  • Why didn't you make this compatible with your old base pads!  I have a million of them!
    • We tried, and since the M&P mags stop on the bottom of the frame via the base pad, it was not possible to get that to happen with our flat pads and still have a funnel of any value.
  • Why didn't you make this compatible with the factory base plates!
    • If you look at the bottom of the frame when the magazine is seated, you'll see that there is no room for a funnel of any sort as the magazine base pad occupies the entire bottom face of the frame as that is what stops it from over inserting.

  1. Awesome! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Jul 2015

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because there is a little wiggle room on the front of the mag well. But other than that it looks awesome and performs amazingly. My reloads are faster, and with the XTC base plates my single hand malfunction reloads are 100% easier.

  2. Works fine 4 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Mar 2015

Works fine has a small amount of play in the front due to my large hands. but the mag well functions great.

  3. Definitely not what I was expecting from 10-8 3 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Feb 2015

I purchased the magwell but so far I can't use it due to waiting for the base plates to come back in stock. I installed the magwell to see how it looked and felt on the gun. It doesn't fit tight to the frame leaving a small gap between the front of the frame and the magwell. Even tightening the screw down more doesn't resolve the issue. The feel of the magwell while its in my hand feels cheap, and it's super flexible and it's finish is less than desirable. Even though it's made of nylon, it looks like it's made of aluminum and the finish has been worn off of the edges. I can only assume this has to be some defect in the dye used for the nylon. Once the base plates come in I will run it through its paces. For those considering this for your weapon, you may want to consider one of the magwells from speed shooter specialties.

For 10-8 Performance, please consider selling the magwell with base plates as a combo deal so those of us that purchase your products can use them right away.

  4. MUST BUY DIFFERENT MAG PLATES TO WORK 1 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Jan 2015

Why would you even make a magwell that don't work with the stock baseplates??You should offer the baseplates with the magwell. Not really a fan of the 10-8 products at this time.I'm just one person and my business won't effect yours very much.I sure wont recommend you to anyone though.

  5. Very Pleased 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Nov 2014

Great Magwell. Nice and streamlined, easy to install and made by a reputable company.

Some advice for prospective buyers- you're going to need to shave a little off the bottom part of your backstrap if you're using the "medium" size. Can't say for the small and large sizes but it'll make it easier to install and you'll be able to tighten the hex screw another 1/2-full turn without having an impact on magazine fit.

Additionally, Customer Service is top notch and if you have any questions or concerns they'll get back to you in a timely manner.

  6. Awesome 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th May 2014

    1. It's well made.
    2. Looks cool.
    3. Functions flawlessly. I turned the hex screw until it became just "tight", and did't go any further than that.
    4. Easy to install.
    5. Overall - It doesn't actually make the reload happen faster, but as others have said, it creates a visually larger "target" area for the magazine to go in to. This means you are less likely to miss the opening and fumble the magazine change. This gives you more confidence in your magazine changes, which can translate into pushing your speed when reloading.

  7. Great magwell 4 Star Review

Posted by on 12th May 2014

This is a great "inexpensive" magwell for the M&P. I know there are others but they are very costly. I purchased this for my daily carry 40 which is also my IDPA gun. I like this magwell because it does what you would expect, makes reloads faster & more positive. The finish is great. The thing I like alot about it is the size. It is just large enough to be functional but not so big that it is uncomfortable to carry, it really does not imprint. The only "negative" about it is the mounting, it is just a little loose on the front strap side but not really significant.

  8. M&P magwell that looks good & feels good too. 5 Star Review

Magazine goes 200 MPH and can now insert without hitting the brakes! awesome quality!

  9. High Speed - Low Drag M&P Accessory 5 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Apr 2014

This mag well is well designed, easy to install, and does exactly what I want it to do -- provide a bigger target during reloading. What is also does and I didn't expect is improve my shooting grip. I purchased this for my duty weapon, am certainly glad I did, and it is worth every penny to me. Thanks!

  10. M&P mag well, done right. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Apr 2014

Out of the package, it caught me by surprise. The lightness of it, the simplicity of it. It adds negligible weight and a nearly invisible addition to your grip, in a positive way. It will take some getting used to as far as installation--I'd like to add my thoughts here: First, take your time, check and verify often, and use the small printed letters on the allen head screw as a reference for later. When reading that there is a fine line for tightness, it is not hyperbole; there is literally a sweet spot between function and obstruction. Second, here is how I found mine: I slowly tightened mine until an empty mag would not eject from slide lock. Then, I held the pistol parallel to the ground, mashed the mag release, and slowly backed out the screw until the mag dropped, noted its location, then backed out an additional ninety degrees. From here, I dry fire practiced for a couple of hours concentrating on all of the fundamental reloads. Thirdly, once satisfied that it was solid and functional, I removed the screw, gave it some blue loctite and set it back. This design is extremely simple and well executed from the mag well to the grip plug to the set screw. Just a masterful addition to the collection.
