Armorer Block

  • Use the block to tension the extractor - insert into the hole and apply the necessary tension.
  • You can also drop the extractor all the way through the block as a quick fixture for filing claw geometry. The extractor hole makes it easier to work on the part when you are out at the range, where test firing and extractor tension adjustment tends to take place.
  • A stripped frame can be laid flat on the block, facing either way. Relief cuts at the bottom accommodate common weld-on magazine wells.
  • The block is relieved for the plunger tube, so a complete frame can be laid on the block on either side.
  • Two blocks can be used together to clamp the frame for slide/frame fitting.
  • The center channel fits the barrel for link pin removal or staking. Use the holes to capture your link pin.
  • Use the included pins to observe the relationship between the hammer and sear.
  • Use the included pins to observe the relationship between the hammer and sear.
  • Also use this area to stake or remove the hammer strut pin.
  • Turn your mainspring housing upside down to depress the mainspring cap and punch out the retainer pin.
  • Insert a thumb safety for fitting the engagement surface of the sear stop stud.
  • Simply insert the safety and file parallel to the top of the block. What is normally a tricky clamping setup and difficult angle to set is now a simple task.
  • Insert a thumb safety for adjusting the engagement surface of the detent face.

Product Description

Our 1911 Armorer Block is the culmination of years of tinkering on the 1911 and getting by with a box of tools and fixtures that didn't quite do what we wanted.

This 4"x4"x1.25" block is CNC machined from super tough nylon, and will give years of service.  Whatever you might wish to do to your 1911 using hand tools, this block will help you do it. The block comes with hammer and sear fixture pins.

Some of the built in features of the block (see photo gallery):

  • extractor tensioning
  • extractor claw profiling
  • holding the frame flat
  • 2 blocks can hold the frame for slide/frame fitting
  • hold the barrel for link removal/installation
  • hammer/sear pin fixture, included
  • mainspring housing assembly/disassembly
  • thumb safety fitting

This block is so handy it is even used by Colt in their 1911 armorer courses!

  1. could use a small improvement 5 Star Review

This block is what is needed for building or working on a 1911. All the special cuts are there to make it indispensable.
The only thing I would add is to mill a pocket in the side (with a cover) to hold the pins (or 2 sets of them). Having the pins loose and nowhere to store them onboard is an invitation to aggravation when they are lost.

  4. Block Rocks..!! 5 Star Review

How did I ever get by without one of these..?? Had/made a couple of bench blocks to work on 1911s thru the years but the 10-8 version puts them to shame. Should be the first item purchased for any 1911 when the "must have" list is started.....It will be put to use !

  5. A great product 5 Star Review

Today I used this product for the first time. I feel my money was well spent and I am sure that the more I use this product the more I will like it. I used it while working on a Springfield Armory Stainless Loaded Target. I broke it down and changed the sear and disconnector. It was great in showing the relationship of the hammer and sear and checking to see how well they mated. It will be useful in the future while replacing thumb safetys.

  6. Great multi purpose bench block 5 Star Review

This tool offers more options than other and the quality is much better. Being able to do a variety of job that other bench block can't do is a plus. 10-8, nice work.

  7. Great task specific tool 4 Star Review

This is a great product for use with the 1911 pistol. It is very well made and rugged for hard use. I am very satisfied with this product, however I would like to see the holes a tad bit deeper in order to allow more room for the pins to drop when they are removed from the weapon. Very satisfied with this new tool and am looking forward to years of service with it.

This product is well made with good instruction sheet. I have previously bought the Wheeler block, but this is the one staying on the bench!
