1911 NM Rear Sight 1911 NM Rear Sight

1911 NM Rear Sight

$34.95

Our National Match style rear sight is designed to fit into the dovetail of GI pattern 1911 pistols.  Its extra thick serrated blade is .315" tall (total height, from base to top of blade) for compatibility with new production Colts, and features a .140" wide U notch. User installable (with some hand fitting), no machining required.  The newly revised design includes a more rounded profile and additional edge chamfers to improve comfort for handling and carry.

  • FITS: GI pattern dovetails such as Colt and Springfield Armory with GI pattern sights.
  • Compatible with: front sights of .175-.185" height.
Is direct replacement for Colt, Springfield Armory, and other 1911s with GI/Milspec rear dovetail. Compatible with factory front sight on Colt 1991A1, new production Series 70 reproduction, and Springfield Armory Milspec models, and does not affect point of impact.

**Be aware that older production Colts with the very low GI style "thumbnail" front sight will require a taller front sight to work with this rear. Machining of the slide is typically necessary and recommended to install a modern dovetail front sight. We neither recommend nor know of any options for traditional style staked on front sights. High profile staked on fronts were bad when we had them in the 80's - they fell off a lot due to the extra weight/inertia from the mass - and they are not any better of any option now that we have dovetailed fronts available.

    My sight restored!

Installed this rear sight on my Colt 1991 model and I can actually pick out the front sight! This sight acts like a ghost ring sight on a shotgun (at least, that is the only comparison I know of). The sight "ghosts out" naturally while the front sight stands out clearly. My 73 year old eyes could have made good use of this sight decades ago, but glad to have it now.

    Awesome sights!

Never purchased a bad product from 10-8, This is no exception. Really nice sights. They are beefier than regular NM sights. It only required filing the base of the sight until it was able to go in really snug, tapped into place and used the included set screw to make sure it stays in place. I highly recommend this product like all his other 1911 stuff. Top notch.

    1911 NM Rear Sights

These sights are so much better than the stock Colt sights. I have 2 colts and both have these sights on them. Some adjustments do have to be made to the sights, but if you love guns you won't mind doing it. I will keep buying these and replacing stock sights. I highly recommend.

    10-8 NM REAR SIGHT

Great sight. Replaced the stock Colt on a series 80 enhanced. Just stoned the bottom for a 1/3 finger fit and pressed the rest of the way in. Stoning took awhile, but I also purchased the Duty Tune DVD's so had something to do while watching those. Also great BTW.

    Nice

I had a gunsmith install this sight on a Springfield Mil-Spec. It took a bunch of fitting he said but looks great. Haven’t shot yet

    1911 NM REAR SIGHT

The 1911 NM REAR SIGHT is solidly built, and the bluing is a close match to the bluing of my Colt 1911 Government. I paired it with a HIVIZ Front Sight for Tenon Style 1911. The 10-8 rear sight accommodates front sight heights .175-.185. The HIVIZ front sight height is .180.

    1911 NM Rear Sights

These sights are awesome. Put them on my Colt Commander which is my duty weapon at my agency. They look great and perform as expected. Be prepared for some file and stone work depending on the weapon you install them on, but other than that no issues. Emailed back and forth with Mr. Yam and customer service is great.

    National match 1911 rear sight

Excellent replacement for the Springfield mil spec rear sight. It was about .010" oversized. Took a few minutes to fit which was no big deal. It is easier to shoot with both eyes open with this sight.

The way it should have come from Colt

The tiny GI-style rear sight on my '98-issue Commander was shredding the lining of my suit coats and was impossible to see during combat shooting. I was convinced I would need to replace both front and rear sights. The 10-8 NM sight was an easy fit with a few minutes of work with a fine India stone. The finish matched up perfect with my Colt, the no-snag design doesn't tear up my cover garments, and it's perfect for one-handed charging if my support hand gets injured. Best of all, I discovered I didn't need to replace my front sight because the NM rear sight has a much larger U-shaped notch that makes it substantially easier to pick up the front sight during fast shooting. I'm not one for flamboyant Gucci-gear mods on a pistol design that JMB got right 100+ years ago, and this sight is everything I want on a real combat piece. I stake my life on this gun, and the fact that it wears a 10-8 Performance NM rear sight is the highest praise I could possibly give.
